My Favorite Dress

One of the first upcycled dresses I ever made was from an old bedsheet from Salvation Army. I loved the warm vintage tones and knew it was coming home with me. The orange, yellow and brown florals still help me receive compliments to fluff my ego.

I was searching for free patterns online and found Mood’s blog where they featured free patterns. I already had not one but two shirtdresses that I loved wearing. Their simple sophistication made them some of my go-to dresses for pretty much anything. When I came across their Rosalie Shirt Dress, it was the dress for this bedsheet.

The biggest challenge was trying to find a space big enough to lay out the queen sized sheet in order to cut out the patterns. Thankfully I had previously invested in a desk from Ikea that raises and lowers. It was definitely a great investment that helps me lay things out and cut out patterns while standing and not breaking my back.

The Result was absolutely worth it and I wore it to my cousin’s wedding! I finished it a mere… 45 minutes before the ceremony started. This dress is still one of my go-to dresses and I love to tell people, “Thanks I made it!”
